Tolerance Exists: Let’s Be Prayer Warriors for Meriam Ibrahim

Meriam-Ibrahim_2918728b

We keep seeing her beautiful wedding picture but in reality right now she is chained in prison. It’s hard to grasp such a drastic change in one’s life all because she refuses to denounce her Christian faith. It’s sad the lack of tolerance for religion these days.

Yesterday I was going to the store. As I was pulling into a parking spot a woman, in the car next to the spot, suddenly opens her car door to get out. I quickly stopped so I could give her room to get out before I pulled in completely. She looked up, noticed this, and smiled at me. She was a Muslim woman. Little did she know, with my cross earrings on that day, she was smiling at a Christian. I honestly don’t think she would have reacted any different.

Not all believers are murderers and intolerant. While we may not agree on each other’s beliefs, and even secretly pray for one another, we should continue to show love and compassion.

I pray that the government of Sudan releases Meriam, her new precious baby girl, and her little boy. We have to learn that attempting to force someone to convert, is not true conversion. Forcing someone into any religion, will not get them to truly accept that religion as truth, thus it will not “save” them. Christians can take a lesson on that as well.

I look back on the times when I was not right with God, I didn’t care if He existed and down in the deepest layer of my soul, I hated Him.

My bitterness did not lead me anywhere but in a downward spiral. All of this time, I remember the seeds. A select few people in my life came along and planted seeds in my life. Some people planted and left and some people stayed.These are the seeds we need to be focusing on. Kind of like little “Jesus impressions” on the hearts of people.

God bless Meriam for her courage, bravery, and planting seeds in every single unsaved soul of the world who reads this story. I’m sure she had no idea God would use her in this way, that her life would be threatened, the life of her children at risk, all for the purpose of reaching others. Cold-hearted humans placed her in jail but I feel like her rich and authentic faith has spoken volumes across the world and God is using this experience to plant seeds in the lives of millions.

Let’s keep praying for her and her entire family. Let’s be prayer warriors for Meriam as she is a warrior for Jesus.

Daily Prayer: Children

Today’s Prayer Topic: Children

20130716-090522.jpgDear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for this treasured child of mine. Although you have entrusted him/her to me, I know he belongs to you. Like Hannah offered Samuel, I dedicate my child to you, Lord. I recognize that he is always in your care.

Help me as a parent, Lord, with my weaknesses and imperfections. Give me strength and godly wisdom to raise this child after your Holy Word. Please supply what I lack. Keep my child walking on the path that leads to eternal life. Help him to overcome the temptations in this world and the sin that would so easily entangle him.

Dear God, send your Holy Spirit daily to lead and guide him. Ever assist him to grow in wisdom and stature, in grace and knowledge, in kindness, compassion and love. May he serve you faithfully with his whole heart devoted to you. May he discover the joy of your presence through daily relationship with your Son, Jesus.

Help me never to hold on too tightly to this child, nor neglect my responsiblities before you as a parent. Lord, let my committment to raise this child for the glory of your name cause his life to forever testify of your faithfulness.

In Jesus’ name I pray.

Amen.

Daily Prayer: A Steadfast Heart

Today’s Prayer Topic: A Steadfast Heart

stock49Give Us, O Lord, a Steadfast Heart
Give us, O Lord, a steadfast heart,
Which no unworthy affection may drag downwards;
Give us an unconquered heart,
Which no tribulation can wear out;
Give us an upright heart,
Which no unworthy purpose may tempt aside.
Bestow upon us also, O Lord our God,
Understanding to know you,
Diligence to seek you, wisdom to find you,
And a faithfulness that may finally embrace you;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Daily Prayer: Choices

Today’s Prayer Topic: Choices

20130711-190921.jpgFather, I pray that You are involved in every choice I make. I want You to take part in those things, no matter how small, because it is in those things that bring about blessings and miracles just by following You in them. Help me to make the best choices, in the tv I watch, in the people I’m friends with, in every aspect of my life. I pray that You are drenched in every good decision that it’s impossible for me to be confused as to what is pleasing to You. Thank You for Your strength and presence, Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Daily Prayer: Understanding & Sympathy

Today’s Prayer Topic: Understanding & Sympathy

20130711-185332.jpgHeavenly Father, I come to You today in prayer to pray for my understanding and sympathy. I know I lack compassion sometimes, which hinders my sympathy towards someone and their situation. Lord, please help me realize that everyone is on a different path and humble me in remembering where I’ve been. I pray that You turn my thoughts in such a way that would be more understanding and give me the ability to sympathize with people, no matter their circumstance. I need to focus on their heart instead of their decisions. I’m eager to reach people on a deeper level. Thank You for understanding me, even if You did not agree. Also, thank You, Father, for Your compassion in my life. Without these things, I would have felt alone and worthless. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Daily Prayer: Rest

Today’s Prayer Topic: Rest

20130711-095653.jpg

Lord, today please give me rest. Give me a chance to take a nap, sit down and read a book or just enjoy a cup of coffee. I’m feeling overwhelmed and stressed out. Father, You know my deadlines, You know what my to-do list says and You know all my goals. Help me to meet all of these and give me a time when I can rest and relax. If I’m being unrealistic with my goals, Lord, please give me the peace in knowing that I’m doing my best and give me opportunities each day to stop, relax and refocus. Thank You, Heavenly Father, in Your name I pray, Amen.

Daily Prayer: Discernment

Today’s Prayer Topic: Discernment

20130705-184933.jpg

Father, I come to you today to pray over my discernment. I find myself labeling others, criticizing others and demeaning them in my thoughts which I know is not what I should be doing. Your Word teaches us to not judge others or we will be judged in the same way. When I remember that verse of scripture, I’m immediately convicted. I know that I’m no greater, no more loved, and no better than anyone else. Humble me, Lord, give me a steady heart, and take away these thoughts of judgement. I pray that even when I don’t understand a person and their choices, that I learn to accept the things I cannot change, be humbled and turn to you in prayer over them and over myself. For I know You died for them, too, not just me or people I agree with. Thank You, Jesus, for Your forgiveness of my short-comings and helping me to overcome them. In Your name I pray, Amen.

Daily Prayer: Relationship Choices

Today’s Prayer Topic: Relationship Choices

20130704-095826.jpg

Lord, I pray that You give me the tools to make good choices in the people I associate with. Sometimes I’m unsure of certain people, if I should be spending time with them or if You put me in their path solely to witness to them. I want to know whether You want me to build a relationship with certain people, or whether I’m supposed to be an example to them at a distance. I know what Your Word says about associating with foolish people and I don’t want to disobey You, yet I feel as though I should at the very least influence them towards You. Father, help me in doing this so that I may not become influenced by ungodly behavior. Thank You for your guidance and wisdom, Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
